Climate culprits: your car vs. your HVAC

Did you know your thermostat has a bigger climate impact than your car?

We generally don’t think of gas furnaces or water heaters a lot. Because cars are sleek and sexy, and water heaters … just hang out in the basement and do their thing.

But when we dial up the heat or open up a hot water tap, most of us are burning fossil fuels.

And it’s not just CO2: when we burn methane (the artist formerly known as Natural Gas), the resulting fine particle soot makes it  harder to breathe. And, gas lines leak. Methane itself is is 82x worse for our climate than CO2.

Don’t get us wrong - EVs are great. They’re fast, they make driving cheaper, and they make fighting climate change sexy.

But if you want to get the biggest climate ROI on your lifestyle upgrades … target your HVAC, not your car.

Harvest saves 75 tons of CO2e over its 18-year lifetime, compared to an EV’s 55 tons of CO2e over a 17-year lifespan. Nationwide, Home heating and hot water alone are responsible for 10% of US carbon emissions, but cars are responsible for 7%

Our Smart Thermal Battery™ anticipates your every heating need, monitors the weather, and communicates with the grid. Like an EV, it receives over-the-air updates. And when you switch to Harvest, you cut your monthly heating bills up to 30%.

So when you’re out shopping for some cool gear to improve your mood while bettering the planet, look no further than Harvest.

It may not be as ravishing as a new EV in your driveway, but trust us: Harvest is way more interesting to talk about at a cocktail party.

Sharing is Caring:
